Accessibility statement for the local authority portal

This accessibility statement explains how accessible this service is, what to do if you have difficulty using it, and how to report accessibility problems with the service.

This service is part of the wider GOV.UK website. There is a separate accessibility statement for the main GOV.UK website.

This page only contains information about the Local Authority portal service, available at https://laportal.hmrc.gov.uk.

Using this service

This service allows billing authorities and local authorities to exchange property information with the Valuation Office Agency (VOA).

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this service. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this service is

This service is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.

We know some parts of this service are not fully accessible:

  • Council Tax schedules downloaded in HTML format have tables that have not been set up correctly, which will make it difficult for users, especially screen-reader users, to understand the content of the table
